Falconers Hill Infant School Curriculum Statement

Our Foundation Stage curriculum is planned using the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum and the Early Years outcomes (Sep 2014). The curriculum is designed to build on the children’s progress and interests.

Our Key Stage One curriculum is planned using the National Curriculum 2016.It is organised into ‘Learning Journey’s’ that interlink the National Curriculum objectives for the children.

Within each ‘Learning Journey’ subjects are linked by content to a particular story book stimulus, value or famous person in history. This then links onto other areas of the curriculum. This ensures the curriculum is fully covered. Alongside this teachers have the freedom to follow children’s interests and plan learning accordingly. A wide range of Literacy texts are linked in to the Learning Journeys. Where links to maths are possible, these are also included.

There are daily sessions of -

Phonics, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation.

(We follow a mixture of Story Time Phonics and Jolly Phonics for the teaching of Phonics.)

Our PHSE Values curriculum includes the teaching of British Values: Democracy, Rule of Law, Tolerance of others lifestyles and Liberty.
