✨Review Of The Week ✨

A Wonderful First Full Week!

What a wonderful first full week back at FHIS! It has been lovely to see the children becoming more settled in their new classes, building relationships and getting back into the routines of school.

Our EYFS children have been busy exploring different areas of our school, including the Learning Garden, WOWA area and school hall, where they enjoyed taking part in their very first assembly! They have also been drawing their first self-portraits and talking about their families – what a lovely way to begin their school journey. ❤️

In KS1, the children have been exploring some exciting new books. Year 1 have been talking, sharing and learning all about Who Are You?, writing their names, words and sentences all about themselves.

Year 2 have entered their new writing unit all about imaginary worlds, exploring and creating their very own monsters as they begin their new text, Do Not Enter the Monster Zoo! 👾

It has been such a joy to see our little people returning to school in their new uniforms, looking so grown up and ready for a new year of learning! We are incredibly proud of them already. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to another wonderful year together!

A very warm welcome back to all of our children and families for the new school year!

At Falconer’s Hill Infant School, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Everything we do is centred around our school promise that every child should feel happy, safe and loved.

We want every child to feel secure, listened to and cared for, knowing that there are trusted adults in school who they can talk to if something is worrying them.

🌟 Who can I talk to if I have a concern?

If you have a worry about your child, another child, or something that you feel may affect a child’s safety or wellbeing, please speak to us. You do not need to be certain that something is wrong — if you are worried, we would always rather you share your concern.

You can also speak to any member of staff you feel comfortable talking to, and they will make sure your concern reaches the right person.

Our safeguarding team is here to listen, support and help. You are never a bother, and there is no such thing as a silly worry when it comes to keeping children safe.

Attendance Matters

Attendance is a priority concern as part of our commitment to safeguarding every child. We believe that children can only reach their full potential through regular, full-time education.

At Falconer's Hill Infant School, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance.

✅  Why 96%?
Pupils with 96% or higher attendance gain a significant advantage — that’s at least 62 more hours of learning compared to a child with just 90% attendance.

Attendance Communication

We kindly ask all parents and carers to contact the school as early as possible if your child is going to be absent.
You can notify us via: 

  • Telephone: 01327 702878 – Office hours are 8am-4pm but leaving a voicemail is an option
  • Email: admin@fhis.inmat.org.uk
  • Seesaw message: Ideally to Mrs Griffiths or Mrs Orme.

If your child has a medical appointment, please inform the school office in advance.
Where possible, please provide appointment letters, cards, or confirmation messages so we can update our records accurately.

Early communication helps us keep our attendance records accurate and supports the wellbeing of all our students.

End Of Day Procedure

Thank you for your patience as staff get to know the names and faces of our children and families.

Please see the poster below for our end-of-day collection procedure, including information about what to do if a different adult will be collecting your child.

Our priority is always ensuring that every child is safely handed over to the correct adult.

Free School Meals & Pupil Premium – the rules have changed!

🌟 DON’T MISS OUT! 🌟

From September 2026, the rules around Free School Meals (FSM) have changed. This means that your family may now be eligible even if you weren’t eligible last year.  

Being eligible for FSM and/or Pupil Premium may also mean you can access additional support from school, including:

🍎 Free School Meals
🎟️ Half-price school trips
🥣 Reduced-price breakfast club places
👕 Support towards school uniform
📚 Additional support through Pupil Premium funding, where applicable

Not sure if you qualify? Don’t worry — we can check for you!

📍 Every day next week, members of staff will be on the school playground with iPads to help families check their eligibility.

All you need to bring with you is:

✅ Your National Insurance number
✅ Your date of birth

Please bring these along next week and speak to a member of staff if you would like us to check whether your family may now be entitled to this support.

There is no need to worry if you weren't eligible before — the criteria have changed, so it is worth checking again.

ASD and ADHD Waiting Times

Unfortunately, because of high numbers of children being referred to this service, our waiting lists are currently very long. We know waiting can be difficult, and we are sorry that it will take longer to be seen than you might have expected.

The current average waiting time for a first appointment with this service is 90 weeks (updated July 2026). This means that, for most people being referred into the service now, it usually takes around 90 weeks before they are seen for the first time. However, some people may wait longer than this as everyone's needs and circumstances are different.

We are all working extremely hard to reduce the wait.

There is support available for your family while you wait, and we encourage you to access this support when needed. It is available for children and young people with or without a diagnosis.

School Office Foyer

If you are in the school office foyer, we kindly ask that you do not let other visitors in.

We appreciate the politeness, but this is an important part of keeping everyone safe and maintaining privacy within our school.

Respectful Language & Behaviour on School Grounds

We kindly remind parents, carers, and visitors to use kind and respectful language at all times on the school site. Swearing, hand gestures or unkind words are not appropriate, as we aim to set a positive example for our children and maintain a caring, welcoming environment for everyone.
