✨Review Of The Week βœ¨

As we reach the end of another incredible school year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly wonderful year at FHIS. It has been a year filled with memorable moments, remarkable achievements and, most importantly, countless smiles from our children.

Throughout the year, we have created so many special memories together as a school community. Some of our standout WOW moments have included our Year 2 children proudly performing in the **Big Sing** at the Royal & Derngate, our Key Stage 1 visit to Twycross Zoo, our EYFS children enjoying their exciting trip to the Butterfly Farm, and the fantastic perseverance shown by everyone during our Sponsored Fun Run.

Our school community has also come together to enjoy our much-loved Summer and Christmas Fayres, organised by our amazing PTA, whose dedication and support we are incredibly grateful for. More recently, our Year 2 children celebrated in style at their Leavers' Disco before an emotional Year 2 Leavers' Assembly, where there were certainly a few proud smiles and happy tears as we reflected on their journey with us.

In recent weeks, many of our classes have 'flown away' to exciting new destinations through their immersive learning experiences. From Costa del Year 2 to France, our classrooms have been filled with creativity, imagination and a real love of learning.

One thing is for certain – as a school community, we have shared so many magical memories that will last a lifetime.

Alongside these wonderful experiences, we have also celebrated some significant achievements as a school. We are delighted to have successfully renewed our **Inclusion Quality Mark Award**, recognising our continued commitment to ensuring every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive.

We have also received wonderful recognition from the InMAT Academy Trust for our outstanding commitment to school attendance. FHIS has achieved the highest attendance across the Trust and amongst many local schools. This is a fantastic achievement and is only possible because of the dedication of our children and families, who continue to prioritise attendance and recognise the importance of every day of learning.

On behalf of everyone at FHIS, thank you. Your commitment and support make a real difference.

This week, we were delighted to celebrate our 30 children with the highest attendance this year by inviting them to enjoy tea, squash and cupcakes with Miss Giles in the sunshine. It was a lovely afternoon and a well-deserved celebration. Congratulations to all of those children!

We are also incredibly proud of this year's fantastic Phonics Screening Check results. These outcomes are a testament to the high-quality teaching of phonics across our school and to the strong partnership between home and school. By working together, we are giving our children the life-changing and lifelong gift of reading, ensuring they have the very best foundations for future learning.

A very special mention goes to our wonderful Year 2 children and their families as they prepare to leave FHIS. It has been a privilege to watch your children grow in confidence, develop a love of learning and flourish during their time with us. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them and know they will continue to achieve great things as they begin the next chapter of their education. We wish you every success and happiness for the future.

When I reflect on the year, one of my greatest highlights has simply been seeing children laughing, smiling and enjoying their learning every single day. One of the greatest privileges of my role is visiting classrooms, celebrating children's achievements and witnessing the pride they have in themselves as they grow in confidence, resilience and independence. Watching our children flourish is what makes FHIS such a special place.

Thank you once again for your continued support, encouragement and commitment to our school. Every child at FHIS matters, every child belongs, and together we have built a community where children feel safe, valued and inspired to achieve their very best.

I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved summer break, spending quality time with your families and creating many more happy memories together.

We are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting year and are delighted to be able to share that we have some exciting developments planned over the summer holidays, particularly the enhancement of our role-play spaces across the school. We can't wait to share these with you in Septemberβ€”watch this space!

We look forward to another fantastic year ahead, filled with new adventures, mountains to climb, achievements to celebrate and many more magical memories to make together.

**School reopens on Thursday 3rd September at 8.45am**, and we look forward to welcoming all of our children back with open arms.

Have a wonderful, safe and restful summer.

Attendance Matters

Attendance is a priority concern as part of our commitment to safeguarding every child. We believe that children can only reach their full potential through regular, full-time education.

🎯Our Attendance Target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance.

βœ…  Why 96%?
Pupils with 96% or higher attendance gain a significant advantage β€” that’s at least 62 more hours of learning compared to a child with just 90% attendance.

Let’s work together to support our children’s education and make every school day count!

This Week's Attendance
13th July - 17th July

Here’s how each class did this week with their attendance:

🌰 Chestnut – 100%
🍁 Sycamore – 92%
🌿 Ash – 97%
πŸ‚ Maple – 98%
🌳 Oak – 96.7%
🌼 Willow – 96.5%

🏫 Whole School Attendance β€“ 96.8%

πŸ₯‡ Congratulations to CHESTNUT for achieving the most attendance this week! You’ve earned the Attendance Cup! Well done!

Let's keep up the great attendance at our school β€” every day counts!

Attendance Communication

We kindly ask all parents and carers to contact the school as early as possible if your child is going to be absent.
You can notify us via:

  • Telephone: 01327 702878 – Office hours are 8am-4pm but leaving a voicemail is an option
  • Email: admin@fhis.inmat.org.uk
  • Seesaw message: Ideally to Mrs Griffiths or Mrs Orme.

If your child has a medical appointment, please inform the school office in advance.
Where possible, please provide appointment letters, cards, or confirmation messages so we can update our records accurately.

Early communication helps us keep our attendance records accurate and supports the wellbeing of all our students.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Community Update – Former Dolphins Nursery Site

We are pleased to share an update regarding the grounds previously occupied by Dolphins Nursery.

Work is now underway to remove the existing building, making way for the construction of a new purpose-built facility that will provide a preschool. We are delighted to have this opportunity to further expand and enhance our offer to the local community, creating a welcoming environment that will support young children and their families for years to come.

This is an exciting development, and we look forward to sharing further information as the project progresses. We will keep you updated with more details in due course.

It was an absolute joy to read your application. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about all the fantastic work taking place at Falconer's Hill Infant School and the positive impact this is having on your pupils. It was particularly encouraging to see the developments within your staff wellbeing programme.

A fantastic gold application & a real testament to the dedication and hard work of your staff team. Congratulations on this well-deserved achievement.

Seesaw Reminder

Seesaw Deadline – Friday 17th July 2026

Parents and carers are reminded that Friday 17th July is the deadline to download and save any photos, videos, learning journals or other content from your child's current Seesaw account.

After this date, pupils will be promoted to their new year groups, and you may no longer have access to content from their current class.

We recommend taking some time to save any items you would like to keep before the deadline.

Thank you for your support.

We appreciate the politeness, but this is an important part of keeping everyone safe and maintaining privacy within our school.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Respectful Language & Behaviour on School Grounds

We kindly remind parents, carers, and visitors to use kind and respectful language at all times on the school site. Swearing, hand gestures or unkind words are not appropriate, as we aim to set a positive example for our children and maintain a caring, welcoming environment for everyone.

Family Support This Summer

The School Age Inclusion and Intervention Support Team (IIST) for West Northamptonshire are running a series of informal drop-in sessions at local Family Hubs over the summer holidays.

These sessions provide an opportunity for parents and carers of children in Year 1 to Year 13 to speak with an IIST practitioner about any concerns they may have regarding their child's needs, behaviour, wellbeing, school life, or home-based challenges. Advice, guidance, and support will be available in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Children are welcome to attend with their parent or carer.

Please see the attached poster for dates, times, and venue details.
