Falconer's Hill Infant School Friday 26th June 2026

โœจReview Of The Week โœจ

What a very different week it has been at Falconer's Hill Infant School!

With the arrival of the heatwave, our classrooms have been transformed into holiday destinations. Year 2 have been jetting off to "Costa Del Year 2", whilst Year 1 have enjoyed their travels to "Sunny France". Across Key Stage 1, the children have been busy making passports, designing and writing about their luggage, and most importantly, enjoying plenty of water play while relaxing "poolside"!

In EYFS, the children have also been embracing the warmer weather with some relaxing foot spas. It has been a particularly exciting week with the arrival of our long-awaited caterpillars. The children have watched with fascination as they have now begun forming their cocoons. There has been lots of discussion, prediction, and excitement, with many children confidently explaining that they will return on Monday as "beautiful butterflies" with "colourful" and "symmetrical wings". We cannot wait to see what happens next!

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our children, families, and staff for their patience, flexibility, and support during the exceptionally high temperatures this week. As always, the wellbeing and safety of our children remain our highest priority. We have worked hard to ensure that these hot days have been filled with special memories, fun experiences, and plenty of opportunities to stay cool.

Looking ahead, we are excited for our children to take part in their Transition Days on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd July. As outlined in our previous letter, these will be full days spent in their new year groups and will provide an opportunity for children to meet their new teacher, practise routines through games and activities, and become familiar with their new classroom environment.

As part of these transition days, all children will be exploring the story "You Belong Here." Our focus will be on helping every child to recognise that they belong here with us at FHIS and ensuring they feel confident, valued, and excited as they prepare for the next stage of their learning journey.

A reminder for our Year 2 families: Please continue to bring your child to the usual Year 2 doors on both transition days. Year 2 staff will be on hand to welcome the children and will walk them across to meet their new teachers at the start of the day. Please ensure that all children attend school in their usual school uniform on both days.

We are certainly hoping for a cooler week next week!

Finally, a reminder that our Summer Fayre has been rescheduled due to the extreme heat and will now take place on Wednesday 1st July from 3:00pmโ€“4:00pm. We look forward to welcoming you then.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and have a wonderful weekend.

Miss Giles
Head of School

Attendance Matters

Attendance is a priority concern as part of our commitment to safeguarding every child. We believe that children can only reach their full potential through regular, full-time education.

๐ŸŽฏOur Attendance Target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance.

โœ…  Why 96%?
Pupils with 96% or higher attendance gain a significant advantage โ€” thatโ€™s at least 62 more hours of learning compared to a child with just 90% attendance.

Letโ€™s work together to support our childrenโ€™s education and make every school day count!

This Week's Attendance
22nd June - 26th June

Hereโ€™s how each class did this week with their attendance:

๐ŸŒฐ Chestnut โ€“ 82%
๐Ÿ Sycamore โ€“ 93%
๐ŸŒฟ Ash โ€“ 94%
๐Ÿ‚ Maple โ€“ 86%
๐ŸŒณ Oak โ€“ 83%
๐ŸŒผ Willow โ€“ 88%

๐Ÿซ Whole School Attendance โ€“ 88%

๐Ÿฅ‡ Congratulations to ASH for achieving the most attendance this week! Youโ€™ve earned the Attendance Cup! Well done!

Let's keep up the great attendance at our school โ€” every day counts!

Attendance Communication

We kindly ask all parents and carers to contact the school as early as possible if your child is going to be absent.
You can notify us via:

  • Telephone: 01327 702878 โ€“ Office hours are 8am-4pm but leaving a voicemail is an option
  • Email: admin@fhis.inmat.org.uk
  • Seesaw message: Ideally to Mrs Griffiths or Mrs Orme.

If your child has a medical appointment, please inform the school office in advance.
Where possible, please provide appointment letters, cards, or confirmation messages so we can update our records accurately.

Early communication helps us keep our attendance records accurate and supports the wellbeing of all our students.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

McCarthy Dixon Foundation Mufti Day

Falconerโ€™s Hill Infant School has been fortunate to become part of the McCarthy Dixon Foundation family, who are a charity that helps to support over 90 schools in Northamptonshire.

They are able to provide tailored specialised aid to support our families through difficult times, and they are providing hampers at Christmas to some of our families who need a little extra help.

We are holding a Summer Celebration Mufti Day on Friday 17th July and all we ask in return is for a cash donation which will then be given to McCarthy Dixon so that they can continue to provide help and support to the community.

For more information on the charity, please visit :

If you are in the school office foyer, we kindly ask that you do not let other visitors in.

We appreciate the politeness, but this is an important part of keeping everyone safe and maintaining privacy within our school.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Respectful Language & Behaviour on School Grounds

We kindly remind parents, carers, and visitors to use kind and respectful language at all times on the school site. Swearing, hand gestures or unkind words are not appropriate, as we aim to set a positive example for our children and maintain a caring, welcoming environment for everyone.

Family Support This Summer

The School Age Inclusion and Intervention Support Team (IIST) for West Northamptonshire are running a series of informal drop-in sessions at local Family Hubs over the summer holidays.

These sessions provide an opportunity for parents and carers of children in Year 1 to Year 13 to speak with an IIST practitioner about any concerns they may have regarding their child's needs, behaviour, wellbeing, school life, or home-based challenges. Advice, guidance, and support will be available in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Children are welcome to attend with their parent or carer.

Please see the attached poster for dates, times, and venue details.
