Review Of The Week 

What a busy and successful week it has been at Falconer's Hill Infant School!

Our Year 2 children have been working their brains incredibly hard as they began their SATs quizzes this week. They have approached each assessment with determination, resilience, and positivity, and we are so proud of all their efforts. There is just one more paper to go on Monday – you've got this, Year 2!

A huge well done also goes to our Year 1 children, who have been completing their Phonics Screening Check this week. We have been so impressed with their confidence and enthusiasm. Thank you to all our families for supporting your children at home by practising their phonics and reading skills—it really does make a difference.

This week, excitement has been building across the school as we look forward to the start of the Football World Cup. On Thursday, Dolce helped us celebrate with a fantastic football-themed lunch, which the children thoroughly enjoyed.

In Reception, children have been exploring odd and even numbers using Numicon. Why not see if your child can spot odd and even numbers around the home or while out and about this weekend?

Looking ahead, next week marks the start of Reception's Assessment Week. Our teachers will be busy observing and assessing children against the Early Learning Goals as they celebrate all the wonderful progress the children have made throughout the year.

We are also hoping to welcome a little more sunshine next week, so please remember sun hats, water bottles, and sun cream if the warmer weather returns!

The Invisible String

Our Early Years children have been learning about The Invisible String and exploring the idea that we are always connected to the people we love, even when we are apart. Through stories and discussions, they have been developing an understanding of relationships, feelings, and the special bonds we share with family and friends.

                                    

Attendance Communication

We kindly ask all parents and carers to contact the school as early as possible if your child is going to be absent.
You can notify us via: 

• Telephone: 01327 702878 – Office hours are 8am-4pm but leaving a voicemail is an option

• Seesaw message: Ideally to Mrs Griffiths or Mrs Orme.

If your child has a medical appointment, please inform the school office in advance.
Where possible, please provide appointment letters, cards, or confirmation messages so we can update our records accurately.

Early communication helps us keep our attendance records accurate and supports the wellbeing of all our students.

Coat Reminder

As the weather continues to be unpredictable, we kindly ask that you provide your child with a suitable coat each day. Conditions can change quickly, and having a coat ensures they remain warm, dry, and comfortable while at school.

Thank you for your support in helping us keep all children prepared for the day ahead.

Collection of Children at the End of the School Day

To help ensure the safety of all children, parents and carers must inform both the school office and their child's class teacher if someone different will be collecting their child from school.

For added security, parents and carers may provide the school with a password. If an alternative adult is collecting your child, they will be asked to give this password to a member of staff at the door before the child is released into their care.

If the school has not been informed of a change in collection arrangements, or if the correct password cannot be provided when required, staff may need to contact a parent or carer before allowing the child to leave.

Supervision of Children Between Schools

We would like to remind all parents and carers to remain vigilant and ensure that children are closely supervised when moving between schools on the site.

The driveway and staff car park are active areas used by staff vehicles throughout the day. While every effort is made to maintain a safe environment, these areas can present significant risks to children who are not accompanied by an adult.

Please ensure that children walk with you at all times, use designated pedestrian routes where available, and do not run, play, or cycle through the driveway or car park areas.

By working together and maintaining close supervision, we can help keep all members of our school community safe.

PTA Volunteer Opportunity – Can You Help at Our Summer Fayre?

We are looking for a family volunteer to join our PTA and support the school at our upcoming Summer Fayre.

This is a small, friendly role open to parents or grandparents of children in the school. The focus will be helping to run a table stall at the fayre, supporting the PTA in creating a fun and successful event for our school community.

The role is entirely voluntary and a great way to get involved, meet other families, and contribute to school life.

Family Support This Summer

The School Age Inclusion and Intervention Support Team (IIST) for West Northamptonshire are running a series of informal drop-in sessions at local Family Hubs over the summer holidays.

These sessions provide an opportunity for parents and carers of children in Year 1 to Year 13 to speak with an IIST practitioner about any concerns they may have regarding their child's needs, behaviour, wellbeing, school life, or home-based challenges. Advice, guidance, and support will be available in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

Children are welcome to attend with their parent or carer.
