✨Review Of The Week βœ¨

Welcome back to school and to our final term of the academic year. I hope you all enjoyed a restful half-term break and had the opportunity to make the most of the sunshine and warm weather that many of us were fortunate to experience. It has been wonderful to see the children return refreshed, positive and ready for the exciting weeks ahead.

This term is always a special one, filled with opportunities for learning, celebration and transition. Across the school, children will be preparing for the next stage of their educational journey, whether that is moving to a new year group, a new classroom or, for some of our oldest pupils, a new school. We have a range of exciting events and experiences planned to support these transitions and help every child feel confident and prepared for the future.

Next week is an important one for some of our pupils. Children in Year 1 will be taking part in the Phonics Screening Check. Thank you for your continued support at home. Please continue to practise reading both real and nonsense words with your child, as this will help build their confidence and fluency.

Our Year 2 pupils will also be taking part in assessment week, with a series of quizzes and classroom activities designed to celebrate and assess the progress they have made throughout the year. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and know they will approach the week with confidence and determination.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. We look forward to sharing the many successes, memorable moments and exciting transitions that this final term will bring.

Warmest wishes,

Miss Giles

Attendance Matters

Attendance is a priority concern as part of our commitment to safeguarding every child. We believe that children can only reach their full potential through regular, full-time education.

🎯Our Attendance Target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance.

βœ…  Why 96%?
Pupils with 96% or higher attendance gain a significant advantage β€” that’s at least 62 more hours of learning compared to a child with just 90% attendance.

Let’s work together to support our children’s education and make every school day count!

This Week's Attendance
1st June - 5th June

Here’s how each class did this week with their attendance:

🌰 Chestnut – 97%
🍁 Sycamore – 93%
🌿 Ash – 96%
πŸ‚ Maple – 88%
🌳 Oak – 98%
🌼 Willow – 97%

🏫 Whole School Attendance β€“ 95.57%

πŸ₯‡ Congratulations to Oak for achieving the most attendance this week! You’ve earned the Attendance Cup! Well done!

Let's keep up the great attendance at our school β€” every day counts!

Attendance Communication

We kindly ask all parents and carers to contact the school as early as possible if your child is going to be absent.
You can notify us via:

  • Telephone: 01327 702878 – Office hours are 8am-4pm but leaving a voicemail is an option
  • Email: admin@fhis.inmat.org.uk
  • Seesaw message: Ideally to Mrs Griffiths or Mrs Orme.

If your child has a medical appointment, please inform the school office in advance.
Where possible, please provide appointment letters, cards, or confirmation messages so we can update our records accurately.

Early communication helps us keep our attendance records accurate and supports the wellbeing of all our students.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

Collection of Children at the End of the School Day

To help ensure the safety of all children, parents and carers must inform both the school office and their child's class teacher if someone different will be collecting their child from school.

For added security, parents and carers may provide the school with a password. If an alternative adult is collecting your child, they will be asked to give this password to a member of staff at the door before the child is released into their care.

If the school has not been informed of a change in collection arrangements, or if the correct password cannot be provided when required, staff may need to contact a parent or carer before allowing the child to leave.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep all children safe.

Supervision of Children Between Schools

We would like to remind all parents and carers to remain vigilant and ensure that children are closely supervised when moving between schools on the site.

The driveway and staff car park are active areas used by staff vehicles throughout the day. While every effort is made to maintain a safe environment, these areas can present significant risks to children who are not accompanied by an adult.

Please ensure that children walk with you at all times, use designated pedestrian routes where available, and do not run, play, or cycle through the driveway or car park areas.

By working together and maintaining close supervision, we can help keep all members of our school community safe.

Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Blue Butterfly Assembly

On Tuesday 9th June, we will be welcoming local police officers into school to deliver a special assembly about the Blue Butterfly.

The Blue Butterfly is a child-friendly safety message designed to help young children understand how to keep themselves safe. During the session, pupils will learn about being kind, recognising when something doesn’t feel right, and the importance of talking to a trusted adult if they feel worried or unsure.

The assembly will be delivered in a calm and supportive way, appropriate for younger children, and aims to build confidence and awareness in a positive and reassuring manner.

School Survey

We are always keen to hear your feedback about what is working well in school and where you feel we could make improvements. Your views are incredibly important in helping us continue to provide the best possible experience for our children and families.

Please take a few moments to complete the feedback form using the link below. We value your honest comments and suggestions and appreciate the time you take to share them with us.

PTA Volunteer Opportunity – Can You Help at Our Summer Fayre?

We are looking for a family volunteer to join our PTA and support the school at our upcoming Summer Fayre.

This is a small, friendly role open to parents or grandparents of children in the school. The focus will be helping to run a table stall at the fayre, supporting the PTA in creating a fun and successful event for our school community.

The role is entirely voluntary and a great way to get involved, meet other families, and contribute to school life.

If you are interested or would like to find out more, please contact the school office.

Thank you for your continued support!

School Office Foyer

If you are in the school office foyer, we kindly ask that you do not let other visitors in.

We appreciate the politeness, but this is an important part of keeping everyone safe and maintaining privacy within our school.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Respectful Language & Behaviour on School Grounds

We kindly remind parents, carers, and visitors to use kind and respectful language at all times on the school site. Swearing, hand gestures or unkind words are not appropriate, as we aim to set a positive example for our children and maintain a caring, welcoming environment for everyone.

Information for parents – Helping your child stay safe

Helping your child stay safe
At school, we teach children simple ways to understand how to keep their bodies safe. One of these is the PANTS Rule, created by the NSPCC.

It helps children learn that their body belongs to them.

Our key message:
Privates are private, and your body belongs to you.

It helps children learn that their body belongs to them.

Our key message:
Privates are private, and your body belongs to you.

How can you support this at home?
βœ” Use simple, correct names for body parts
βœ” Remind your child their body belongs to them
βœ” Encourage open, calm conversations
βœ” Let them know they will never be in trouble for telling you something.
βœ” Revisit these messages regularly in everyday situations
