Review Of The Week
What a wonderful week we had at Falconer’s Hill Infant School, filled with excitement, achievement, and community spirit.
The highlight of the week was our fantastic Sports Day on Friday. With the sun shining, the children took part in a brilliant morning of sporting events, competing enthusiastically in throwing activities, running races, sack races, long jump, and, of course, the ever-popular egg and spoon race! The atmosphere was full of energy, teamwork, and encouragement, with children demonstrating determination, resilience, and great sportsmanship throughout.
The celebrations continued with our family fun community picnic, where families joined us to share food, laughter, and time together in the sunshine. It was a lovely opportunity to come together as a school community. Thank you to all the families who attended and helped make the event so special. Most importantly, a huge well done to all the children who took part and proudly received their well-earned medals — they were fantastic representatives of our school.
Alongside this celebration, last week was also a busy and important one as the school hosted a safeguarding audit. As always, safeguarding at FHIS was praised highly, with real recognition of the strong culture of vigilance, clear systems, and processes in place across the school. The audit highlighted the excellent support provided to our most vulnerable families and the consistent prioritisation of keeping children safe.
As part of the process, children from across the school were spoken to, and their responses were truly impressive. They demonstrated a strong understanding of how we keep safe, sharing comments such as:
“The school values help to keep us safe and help us to know how we behave.”
“It is important that we don’t say anything unkind.”
“We have no outsiders at our school because everyone is welcome.”
“It doesn’t matter if you are a boy or girl, have glasses or are in a wheelchair, you can come and be our friend.”
When discussing online safety, children confidently recalled “stop, block and tell” and explained that if they see a pop-up or receive contact from someone they do not know, they would tell a trusted adult straight away.
This is a real credit to the school community and to the importance we place on teaching our children how to stay safe in all aspects of their lives. It reflects the strong safeguarding culture that runs through everything we do at FHIS.
A fantastic week — celebrating achievement, community, and the safety and wellbeing of every child.
