✨Review Of The Week ✨

Welcome back to school! We hope you all had a wonderful Easter break, enjoyed some well-earned rest, and perhaps even a visit from the Easter Bunny.

It has been an exciting start to the term, with highlights already to celebrate. On Thursday, we were lucky enough to enjoy the first glimpses of sunshine this week, which made our annual Sponsored Colour Run even more special. The children across all year groups were absolutely fantastic, showing enthusiasm, determination and lots of smiles throughout the event. Some of their favourite moments included “doing the army crawls”, “jumping the hurdles” and, of course, “getting my certificate” at the end!

A huge thank you to all of our parents and families who came along to support. We truly appreciate you braving the cold wind to cheer on the children and help make the event such a success. Your continued support means so much to our school community.

Earlier in the week, on Monday, our teachers took part in further professional development, focusing on Jogo de-escalation strategies. This training explored the stages of distress and crisis, equipping staff with additional tools and understanding, supporting all children effectively each day. It was a valuable opportunity for learning and reflection, and will further strengthen our approach to ensuring a calm, supportive environment for everyone.

We look forward to the weeks ahead and all that this term will bring!

Attendance Matters

Attendance is a priority concern as part of our commitment to safeguarding every child. We believe that children can only reach their full potential through regular, full-time education.

🎯Our Attendance Target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance.

✅  Why 96%?
Pupils with 96% or higher attendance gain a significant advantage — that’s at least 62 more hours of learning compared to a child with just 90% attendance.

Let’s work together to support our children’s education and make every school day count!

This Week's Attendance
14th April - 17th April

Here’s how each class did this week with their attendance:

🌰 Chestnut – 99%
🍁 Sycamore – 97%
🌿 Ash – 98%
🍂 Maple – 98%
🌳 Oak – 98%
🌼 Willow – 97%

🏫 Whole School Attendance – 98%

🥇 Congratulations to Chestnut Class for achieving 99% attendance this week! You’ve earned the Attendance Cup! Well done!

Let's keep up the great attendance at our school — every day counts!

Attendance Communication

We kindly ask all parents and carers to contact the school as early as possible if your child is going to be absent.
You can notify us via:

  • Telephone: 01327 702878 – Office hours are 8am-4pm but leaving a voicemail is an option
  • Email: admin@fhis.inmat.org.uk
  • Seesaw message: Ideally to Mrs Griffiths or Mrs Orme.

If your child has a medical appointment, please inform the school office in advance.
Where possible, please provide appointment letters, cards, or confirmation messages so we can update our records accurately.

Early communication helps us keep our attendance records accurate and supports the wellbeing of all our students.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

School Office Foyer

If you are in the school office foyer, we kindly ask that you do not let other visitors in.

We appreciate the politeness, but this is an important part of keeping everyone safe and maintaining privacy within our school.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Respectful Language & Behaviour on School Grounds

We kindly remind parents, carers, and visitors to use kind and respectful language at all times on the school site. Swearing, hand gestures or unkind words are not appropriate, as we aim to set a positive example for our children and maintain a caring, welcoming environment for everyone.

No Smoking or Vaping on School Grounds.

We kindly remind all parents, carers, and visitors that smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on the school site, including car parks and outdoor areas.

This helps us maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment for all our students, staff, and families. Thank you for your cooperation and for setting a positive example for our young people.

Calling Our Community Heroes!

This term EYFS will begin our new learning topic: People Who Help Us. We will be exploring a range of important job roles in our community, including dentists, vets, firefighters, doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other community workers.

If you work in one of these professions—or have a family member who does—and would be happy to come into school to talk to the children about the role, we would greatly appreciate your support. Hearing directly from real professionals helps bring learning to life and deepens the children’s understanding of the world around them.

If you are interested, please contact the school office to leave your details, and an EYFS teacher will be in touch.

Thank you for your continued support!

Book Raffle

We’re excited to encourage a love of reading with our Reading Ticket initiative! Each term, your child will receive reading tickets to complete at home. Once finished, they can bring them back to school and pop them into our special prize box.

Every week in our celebration assembly, we’ll draw tickets at random—and lucky winners will receive a book to take home and keep!

We love seeing our children develop a passion for reading, and your support at home makes all the difference. Happy reading! ???

Year 2 Big Sing Competition

This year, the theme of our Year 2 Big Sing at the Royal & Derngate Theatre is “At the Zoo” 🦁🐘🦒

We are excited to announce a brand-new competition linked to this event! One outstanding piece of artwork from across the school will be selected to be showcased on the stage at the theatre.

All children are invited to take part by creating one piece of artwork inspired by animals that live at the zoo. This can be:

  • A drawing
  • A painting
  • A craft or mixed-media piece

Please ensure that all artwork is clearly labelled with your child’s name and age.

Only one piece of artwork will be chosen to be displayed, so children are encouraged to take their time and make it their very best effort.

We can’t wait to see the wonderful, creative zoo-inspired artwork from across the school.
