Review Of The Week

As we come to the end of the spring term, it feels especially fitting to reflect on what has been a truly wonderful few months in school. Much like the flowers beginning to bloom around us, this term has been full of growth, progress and new beginnings for our children. It has been a pleasure to see their confidence, resilience and enthusiasm flourish across all areas of school life.

This week has been particularly enjoyable, with parent consultations taking place across the school. Thank you to all the families who came in to meet with us. These conversations are so valuable in celebrating successes and sharing the next steps for our wonderful children. We are grateful for your continued support and partnership.

We would also like to take a moment to thank all the children and families who put so much effort and creativity into our Easter bonnet competition. The standard was incredibly high, and it was a joy to see such imaginative designs. This year’s winners are Eliott in Sycamore, Otilia in Maple & Aurora in Willow.

Well done to everyone who took part!

As we say goodbye to the spring term, we also say farewell to some valued members of our school community.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Birch as she begins her retirement. Her long service and dedication to the school have made a lasting impact, and she will be greatly missed.

We also wish Mrs Waldock all the very best as she begins her maternity leave. We look forward to welcoming her back in the future and send our warmest wishes to her and her growing family.

Congratulations to Mr Little, who will be getting married over the Easter holidays. We would like to wish him a truly special day filled with happiness, love and celebration as he begins this exciting new chapter.

Finally, we say goodbye to Mr Baggis, our Pro-Sports Coach, who has worked with the school for just over a year and a half delivering our Real PE curriculum. We thank him for his commitment, energy and contribution to our pupils’ development in sport and physical education.

We wish all of our families a happy, restful Easter break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for the summer term on Tuesday 14th April 2026.

TaMHS Award

We are proud to announce we have been awarded Bronze & Silver accreditation for TaMHS award - Targeted Mental Health In Schools.

Attendance Matters

Attendance is a priority concern as part of our commitment to safeguarding every child. We believe that children can only reach their full potential through regular, full-time education.

🎯Our Attendance Target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance.

✅  Why 96%?
Pupils with 96% or higher attendance gain a significant advantage — that’s at least 62 more hours of learning compared to a child with just 90% attendance.

Let’s work together to support our children’s education and make every school day count!

This Week's Attendance
23rd March - 27th March

Here’s how each class did this week with their attendance:

🌰 Chestnut – 92%
🍁 Sycamore – 99%
🌿 Ash – 94%
🍂 Maple – 98%
🌳 Oak –  97%
🌼 Willow – 94%

🏫 Whole School Attendance – 96%

🥇 Congratulations to Sycamore Class for achieving  97% attendance this week! You’ve earned the Attendance Cup! Well done!

Let's keep up the great attendance at our school — every day counts! ???

Attendance Communication

We kindly ask all parents and carers to contact the school as early as possible if your child is going to be absent.
You can notify us via:

  • Telephone: 01327 702878 – Office hours are 8am-4pm but leaving a voicemail is an option
  • Email: admin@fhis.inmat.org.uk
  • Seesaw message: Ideally to Mrs Griffiths or Mrs Orme.

If your child has a medical appointment, please inform the school office in advance.
Where possible, please provide appointment letters, cards, or confirmation messages so we can update our records accurately.

Early communication helps us keep our attendance records accurate and supports the wellbeing of all our students.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.

School Office Foyer

If you are in the school office foyer, we kindly ask that you do not let other visitors in.

We appreciate the politeness, but this is an important part of keeping everyone safe and maintaining privacy within our school.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Respectful Language & Behaviour on School Grounds

We kindly remind parents, carers, and visitors to use kind and respectful language at all times on the school site. Swearing, hand gestures or unkind words are not appropriate, as we aim to set a positive example for our children and maintain a caring, welcoming environment for everyone.

No Smoking or Vaping on School Grounds.

We kindly remind all parents, carers, and visitors that smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on the school site, including car parks and outdoor areas.

This helps us maintain a clean, healthy, and safe environment for all our students, staff, and families. Thank you for your cooperation and for setting a positive example for our young people.

McCarthy Dixon

Falconer’s Hill Infant School is fortunate to be part of the McCarthy Dixon Foundation family—a charity that supports over 90 schools across Northamptonshire. Through this partnership, they are able to offer tailored, specialised support to help families during difficult times.

This week, Jenna from the McCarthy Dixon Foundation visited our school and led an assembly to explain the charity’s work and how they help our local community.

After the Easter break, each child will bring home a small box and a set of stickers to decorate it. We are inviting families to fill the box with any donations they are able to give, which will go directly to support the McCarthy Dixon Foundation and the vital work they do.

Thank you, as always, for your kindness and support.

Calling Our Community Heroes!

After the Easter holidays, EYFS will begin our new learning topic: People Who Help Us. We will be exploring a range of important job roles in our community, including dentists, vets, firefighters, doctors, nurses, paramedics, and other community workers.

If you work in one of these professions—or have a family member who does—and would be happy to come into school to talk to the children about the role, we would greatly appreciate your support. Hearing directly from real professionals helps bring learning to life and deepens the children’s understanding of the world around them.

If you are interested, please contact the school office to leave your details, and an EYFS teacher will be in touch.

Thank you for your continued support!

Book Raffle

We’re excited to encourage a love of reading with our Reading Ticket initiative! Each term, your child will receive reading tickets to complete at home. Once finished, they can bring them back to school and pop them into our special prize box.

Every week in our celebration assembly, we’ll draw tickets at random—and lucky winners will receive a book to take home and keep!

We love seeing our children develop a passion for reading, and your support at home makes all the difference. Happy reading! ???

One of our EYFS children recently wrote to a local shop requesting donations for our school Easter raffle. This wasn’t just a brilliant example of early writing in action – it also showed a wonderful sense of community and truly reflected our school values.

A big thank you to Tesco Express for their kind and generous donations. Your support is greatly appreciated and makes a real difference to our school community!

Year 2 Big Sing Competition

This year, the theme of our Year 2 Big Sing at the Royal & Derngate Theatre is “At the Zoo”

We are excited to announce a brand-new competition linked to this event! One outstanding piece of artwork from across the school will be selected to be showcased on the stage at the theatre.

All children are invited to take part by creating one piece of artwork inspired by animals that live at the zoo. This can be:

  • A drawing
  • A painting
  • A craft or mixed-media piece

Please ensure that all artwork is clearly labelled with your child’s name and age.

Only one piece of artwork will be chosen to be displayed, so children are encouraged to take their time and make it their very best effort.

We can’t wait to see the wonderful, creative zoo-inspired artwork from across the school.

Online Safety

Online safety is an important part of helping children enjoy technology in a safe way. Popular platforms such as Roblox, Minecraft, Snapchat and WhatsApp can be great for creativity and communication, but they can also allow children to interact with people they do not know. It is important that parents regularly check privacy settings, know who their child is communicating with, and remind children never to share personal information online. With the growing use of AI tools, children should also be encouraged to ask for help from a trusted adult if they see or hear anything online that makes them feel unsure or uncomfortable. Working together helps keep children safe while they explore the digital world. This is a website that can help to support you to keep your children safe online. More support can be found our parents Padlet.

Dental Checks

We encourage all families to make sure their child is registered with a dentist and attends regular check-ups to support good oral health. Visiting the dentist from an early age helps children feel comfortable and can prevent problems developing later on. Many local dental practices are currently accepting new patients and have appointment availability between April and June, so this is a great time to book a check-up if your child has not visited recently or is not yet registered. Please contact your local dental practice to arrange an appointment and help keep your child’s smile healthy.
