Head of School Review of the Week

It has been another very settled and productive week in school. Our pupils have shown great focus and enthusiasm, creating a calm and purposeful atmosphere throughout.

Year 1 have been taking part in their assessment week, giving them the chance to put into practice all the wonderful learning they’ve done this term. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and the progress they continue to make.

This week, we were also delighted to welcome students from The Creating Tomorrow College who joined us for work experience. They have been a wonderful addition to our school community, supporting learning across a range of classrooms. From sharing stories with children to helping set up games at playtime, they have shown great enthusiasm and a real willingness to get involved. We are grateful for their contributions and hope they enjoy the rest of their placement with us.

We have also seen the introduction of lots of exciting new play equipment for playtimes and lunchtimes, including top hats, magic wands, new pom-poms and team games for our playground. This fantastic addition has already brought even more fun and creativity to outdoor play. A big thank you to our PTA, whose fundraising at the Halloween Disco made these purchases possible.

Meanwhile, preparations for our Christmas Fayre continue to gather pace. There is a real sense of excitement as raffle prizes are being beautifully wrapped and made ready to be won. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed so far — your support helps make this event such a highlight of the festive season.

Wishing you all a restful weekend as we look forward to another week of learning and celebration.

Lockdown practice

This week, the children took part in a lockdown practice as part of our regular safety procedures. We were incredibly proud of how calmly and sensibly they followed the instructions. These rehearsals help ensure that everyone in school knows what to do in the unlikely event of an emergency.

Well done to all of our children for their mature and responsible attitude.

Stranger Safety

This week at school we have been learning about Stranger Safety as part of our personal, social and health education. We focus on building children’s confidence and helping them to make safe choices when they are out in the community or online. The children are learning simple rules such as saying “NO, GO, TELL” and "Stop, I don't feel safe" if someone makes them feel unsure, and understanding that while most people are kind, it’s important to only go with grown-ups their family knows and trusts.

Through stories, role-play and age-appropriate discussions, pupils have been practising how to stay safe without feeling worried. Please continue to chat at home about safe adults and what to do if they ever feel unsure — teamwork helps keep everyone safe!

Attendance Matters

Attendance is a priority concern as part of our commitment to safeguarding every child. We believe that children can only reach their full potential through regular, full-time education.

🎯Our Attendance Target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance.

✅  Why 96%?
Pupils with 96% or higher attendance gain a significant advantage — that’s at least 62 more hours of learning compared to a child with just 90% attendance.

Let’s work together to support our children’s education and make every school day count!

This Week's Attendance
24th November - 28th November 2025

Here’s how each class did this week with their attendance:

🌰 Chestnut – 94%
🍁 Sycamore – 99%
🌿 Ash – 89%
🍂 Maple – 88%
🌳 Oak –  94%
🌼 Willow – 93%

🏫 Whole School Attendance – 93%

🥇 Congratulations to SYCAMORE Class for achieving  99% attendance this week! You’ve earned the Attendance Cup! Well done!

Let's keep up the great attendance at our school — every day counts! ???

Attendance Reminder

We kindly ask all parents/carers to please make contact with the school as early as possible if your child is going to be absent from school. You can notify us by telephone (01327 702878), email (admin@fhis.inmat.org.uk) or Seesaw.

Early communication helps us keep our attendance records accurate and supports wellbeing for all students.

Thank you for your support & cooperation

Respectful Language on School Grounds

We kindly remind parents, carers, and visitors to use kind and respectful language at all times on the school site. Swearing, hand gestures or unkind words are not appropriate, as we aim to set a positive example for our children and maintain a caring, welcoming environment for everyone.

Parking on school site

We would like to remind all parents and carers that vehicle access to the school site is strictly reserved for Blue Badge holders only. This helps us maintain a safe environment for our pupils, particularly during busy drop-off and pick-up times.

As we share our school grounds with other schools, a new system is being introduced to help manage vehicles safely and efficiently. If you are a Blue Badge holder and require on-site access, please let us know so that we can ensure you are included in the updated arrangements.

Parking spaces are reserved for staff only.

Thank you for your support in keeping our shared grounds safe and accessible for those who need it.
