Review Of The Week at FHIS

It’s been another wonderfully busy week at Falconer’s Hill Infant School! The children have returned to school calm, settled, and ready to learn, which has made for a really positive start to the new half-term.

Across the school, there’s been a growing buzz of excitement as the children have begun practising their Nativity songs — both in classrooms and during our lively singing assembly this week. It’s been lovely to hear such joyful singing echoing through the corridors!

On Friday, we celebrated our Bonfire Smart Day, where children learnt all about how and why we celebrate Bonfire Night. They enjoyed a range of themed activities, including the highlight of the day — toasting and eating marshmallows!

In classrooms, learning has continued to sparkle:

  • Year 1 have been developing their mathematical fluency, revisiting addition and subtraction during their Friday arithmetic session.
  • Year 2 have been busy in History, sequencing the events of the Great Fire of London and deepening their understanding of this important moment in history.
  • Our EYFS children have been fully immersed in the magic of fireworks, using their creativity to draw, write, and paint dazzling firework displays.

It’s been a fantastic week full of learning, creativity, and excitement — well done to all our children for their enthusiasm and effort!

Attendance Matters

Attendance is a priority concern as part of our commitment to safeguarding every child. We believe that children can only reach their full potential through regular, full-time education.

🎯Our Attendance Target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance.

✅  Why 96%?
Pupils with 96% or higher attendance gain a significant advantage — that’s at least 62 more hours of learning compared to a child with just 90% attendance.

Let’s work together to support our children’s education and make every school day count!

This Week's Attendance

Introducing Our New Behaviour Flowchart

As a school, we continue to follow and teach our Behaviour Curriculum, which supports all children in understanding our expectations and making positive choices.

We are also introducing a Behaviour Flowchart — a simple, visual guide that outlines the process we use to manage and respond to behaviour across the school. This diagram helps to ensure consistency and clarity for staff, children, and parents, so that everyone understands how we work together to promote a calm and respectful learning environment.

💙 Anti-Bullying Week at FHIS 💙

Next week, we will be marking Anti-Bullying Week across the school. This year’s theme encourages everyone to work together to make a difference and show kindness in our words and actions every day.

Throughout the week, the children will take part in special morning tasks and PSHE lessons focused on friendship, respect, and how we can all help to make our school a safe and happy place for everyone.

It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the positive relationships we build at FHIS and to remind each other that even small acts of kindness can have a big impact. 💫
