Review Of The Week

This week, we have celebrated the power of inclusion and diversity through our 'No Outsiders' artwork, which beautifully reflects the values we hold dear at our school. Our students have worked together to create pieces that emphasise the importance of respect, acceptance, and belonging for everyone, regardless of background or differences.

It has been truly inspiring to see their creativity and commitment to these values come to life. Alongside this, we are also thrilled to share the great progress our students have made in phonics and reading. Across the school, children have shown tremendous enthusiasm and improvement in their reading skills, which is a testament to the dedication of both our pupils and staff.

Internet Safety Day

This week, we celebrated Internet Safety Day 2025, with our students engaging in important lessons about how to stay safe online. Children have learnt about the potential dangers of online scams and how to recognise suspicious or unsafe content. They also explored the significance of age ratings on TV programmes and video games, gaining a better understanding of how these ratings help protect them from inappropriate material. Through interactive discussions and activities, our pupils have developed valuable skills and knowledge that will help them make safer, more informed decisions when navigating the online world. It was a fantastic opportunity to reinforce our commitment to keeping children safe, both in the classroom and beyond.

Attendance

Attendance is a priority concern in our duty to ‘safeguard’ children. We believe that children can reach their full potential only by receiving full-time education through regular attendance.

Our target

At FHIS we want to achieve attendance for all pupils of 96% or greater. This is a minimum of an additional 62 hours of learning achieved compared to that of 90% attendance.

10th February - 14th February

Chestnut – 95%

Sycamore – 92%

Ash – 90%

Maple – 95%

Oak – 89%

Willow – 96%

Whole school – 93%

World Book Day preparation

After the half-term, we are excited to celebrate World Book Day 2025 with a variety of fun activities for all our students. On this special day, we invite everyone to dress up as their favourite book character, bringing their beloved stories to life. Throughout the day, we will be sharing stories, designing illustrations, and even writing our own creative tales. It's a wonderful opportunity to ignite a passion for reading and inspire our students to explore new books and characters. We can’t wait to see the amazing costumes and celebrate the joy of reading together!
