Head Of School – Review Of The Week

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been another busy and exciting week at school, with plenty of engaging learning happening across all year groups.

In EYFS, the children have been exploring the world of printing. They particularly enjoyed creating beautiful leaf print patterns, developing both their creativity and fine motor skills.

Year 1 have been learning about different emotions and how we respond to various situations. The children showed great insight as they discussed feelings and how to manage them in a positive way.

Year 2 have been working on their throwing and catching skills during multiskills sessions, showing great teamwork and perseverance.

Looking ahead, next week is Phonics Week at school. Many children will be completing assessments to help move their learning forward. Please ensure your child brings their bookbag and reading books to school each day, so that books can be changed and children are fully prepared for their sessions.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Attendance Matters

Attendance is a priority concern as part of our commitment to safeguarding every child. We believe that children can only reach their full potential through regular, full-time education.

🎯 Our Attendance Target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance.

✅ Why 96%?
Pupils with 96% or higher attendance gain a significant advantage — that’s at least 62 more hours of learning compared to a child with just 90% attendance.

Let’s work together to support our children’s education and make every school day count! 🌟

This Week's Attendance
29th September - 3rd October

Here’s how each class did this week with their attendance:

🌰 Chestnut – 100%
🍁 Sycamore – 95%
🌿 Ash –  96%
🍂 Maple – 93%
🌳 Oak – 98%
🌼 Willow – 96%

🏫 Whole School Attendance – 96%

🥇 Congratulations to Chestnut Class for achieving 100% attendance this week! You’ve earned the Attendance Cup! Well done!

Let's keep up the great attendance at our school — every day counts! 📚✨

Dear Parents and Carers,

A polite reminder that although the car park gates are currently open, parents should be parking responsibly in the Community Centre car park. The staff car park is for staff members only, as this helps us to ensure the area remains safe for our school community at the end of the school day.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support in keeping everyone safe.

We wanted to let you know that our Parent Link Worker, Mrs Birch, is currently recovering from a broken arm and will be absent from school for the time being. We wish her a speedy and comfortable recovery.

In the meantime, should you need to check in or discuss anything, please feel free to contact your child’s class teacher or speak with Mrs Burton, who will be happy to support you.

Thank you for your understanding.

Autumn Home Learning Adventures!

As the leaves turn golden, and the air grows crisp, autumn is the perfect season for children to get creative and enjoy the great outdoors. This term, we’re encouraging families to embrace all that this beautiful season has to offer as part of our home learning.

From woodland walks and leaf art to conker counting and seasonal storytelling, there are so many ways to learn and play outside. Whether it's collecting natural treasures, writing poems inspired by autumn scenes, or creating crafts using fallen leaves, we’d love to see how your child explores and enjoys this special time of year.

Let’s celebrate the season with imagination, curiosity, and a little bit of muddy fun! 🌳🍂✨
