Head Of School - Review Of The Week

What a fun and active week it has been at school. With the glorious summer sunshine making a welcome appearance, the children have made the most of the beautiful weather with lots of opportunities for outdoor learning and play.

In early years, our youngest learners have been exploring the world of repeating patterns and enjoying water-based activities, which have been perfect for keeping cool while staying curious and creative.

Year 1 have been getting their hands dirty and making a real impact by learning about the importance of looking after our school environment. Through planting and gardening, they’ve not only developed their understanding of nature but also shown a great sense of responsibility and teamwork.

Meanwhile, our Year 2 children are cherishing their final weeks with us. They have been focusing on our core value of friendship, engaging in team games and collaborative activities that highlight the importance of working together, supporting one another, and making lasting memories.

A huge highlight of the week was our Whole School Sports Day. A heartfelt “Thank You” goes out to all the parents and carers who came along to support, encourage, and cheer on our pupils. It was an absolute joy to watch every child take part with such enthusiasm, perseverance, and pride.

We were also delighted to see so many families stay for our afternoon picnic on the school field. Sharing that time together in the sunshine really captured the spirit of our school community, and it was a pleasure to welcome you all.

Wishing everyone a restful weekend as we look ahead to more summer term adventures next week!

Attendance

Attendance is a priority concern in our duty to ‘safeguard’ children. We believe that children can reach their full potential only by receiving full-time education through regular attendance.

Our target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School we want to achieve attendance for all pupils of 96% or greater. This is a minimum of an additional 62 hours of learning achieved compared to that of 90% attendance.

Monday 7th July –Friday 11th July

Chestnut – 99%

Sycamore – 93%

Ash – 96%

Maple – 96%

Oak – 95%

Willow – 95%

Whole school –  96%

Reminders

Sun Safety

Please can we gently remind parents/guardians to send children in with water bottles and sun hats.

Sunglasses are not allowed in school unless it's for medical reasons. Sun cream is to be applied before school and not sent in with the children as we are unable to apply this to them.

Parking

A gentle reminder that parking on school premises at drop-off and pick-up is for blue badge holders only.

Playground Safety

We kindly ask all parents and children to refrain from riding scooters or bikes on the school playground before and after school.

Our playground is a busy space, especially during drop-off and pick-up times, and riding at speed can pose a risk to younger children and adults moving through the area.

To help keep everyone safe, please walk your bikes and scooters while on the school grounds.

Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our playground safe for all.

A Reminder About Our School Values:  No Outsiders in Our Community

At our school, we are proud to be a No Outsiders school—a place where everyone is welcome, respected, and celebrated for who they are. This approach underpins our commitment to inclusion, kindness, and equality for all.

As part of this, we want to remind our school community that racism in any form is not tolerated. We work hard to ensure that every child feels safe, valued, and included. Through our curriculum, assemblies, and daily interactions, we actively teach the importance of respect, empathy, and standing up for what is right.

We ask that all members of our school community—children, staff, and families—continue to support us in upholding these values. Together, we can ensure that our school remains a place where everyone feels they belong and differences are embraced.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us build a truly inclusive and respectful environment for all.
