Head Of School - Review Of The Week

What a fantastic and busy week we’ve had at school !

A huge thank you to our wonderful PTA for organising such a fun and successful Summer Fayre. It was lovely to see so many families enjoying the event — from the brilliant stalls to the exciting games and fantastic prizes, there really was something for everyone. We’re so grateful for the continued support of our school community.

The children also had a lovely treat last week with a special visit from Fizz, as part of our values rewards. The ice lolly treats were certainly enjoyed by all and were a perfect way to celebrate the hard work and positive attitudes we’ve seen in school.

In Key Stage 1, the children have impressed us with their focus and determination as they have been planning, writing, and editing their independent writing. It has been wonderful to see them applying their learning and taking such pride in their work.

Thank you to everyone for your support.

Attendance

Attendance is a priority concern in our duty to ‘safeguard’ children. We believe that children can reach their full potential only by receiving full-time education through regular attendance.

Our target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School we want to achieve attendance for all pupils of 96% or greater. This is a minimum of an additional 62 hours of learning achieved compared to that of 90% attendance.

Monday 30th June –Friday 4th July

Chestnut – 94%

Sycamore – 98%

Ash – 97%

Maple – 93%

Oak – 97%

Willow – 99%

Whole school – 96%

Reminders

Sun safety

A reminder about sun-cream and weather-appropriate clothing as the weather begins to warm up and improve. Children need to attend school wearing sun-cream and with a sun hat as children will be enjoying the sunshine outside during the day.

For safety reasons, we ask children not to bring or wear sunglasses in school. If you have any questions, as always, please feel free to speak to a member of staff at the door or your child's class teacher on Seesaw.

Administering medication in school

We would like to remind parents and carers of our procedures for administering medication in school:

  • We are unable to give any medication (prescription or non-prescription) to a child without written consent from a parent or carer. All medicines must be accompanied by this written consent and, where prescribed, must be in the original prescription container or labelled packaging (except for insulin, which may be provided in an injector pen or pump).
  • Aspirin or paracetamol will only ever be given if it has been prescribed by a doctor.
  • Medicines will only be administered in school when it would be detrimental to a child’s health or school attendance not to do so. We usually expect this to be with a doctor’s prescription, except in exceptional circumstances. Wherever possible, we ask parents and carers to request medicines from their doctor that can be taken outside of school hours.
  • Any dosage requirement under four doses per day will not be administered in school.
  • We will never act on instructions from a child regarding their medication. If a child brings medication into school without the correct parental consent form, the medicine will be kept safely by staff, and we will contact parents or carers immediately.

Parking

A gentle reminder that parking on school premises at drop-off and pick-up is for blue badge holders only.

Playground safety

We kindly ask all parents and children to refrain from riding scooters or bikes on the school playground before and after school.

Our playground is a busy space, especially during drop-off and pick-up times, and riding at speed can pose a risk to younger children and adults moving through the area.

To help keep everyone safe, please walk your bikes and scooters while on the school grounds.

Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping everyone safe.

Please can all Phonics & library books be returned before the end of term.

Thank you
