Review Of The Week

Sunshine, Safety, and Super Stories!

This week has brought the first taste of summer sunshine, and the children have thoroughly enjoyed spending time outdoors while continuing their learning adventures. A special highlight was our visit by PC Sangster, who helped us learn all about Road Safety. The children practiced the important steps of Stop, Look, and Listen and had the chance to safely practise crossing the road—an essential life skill made fun and memorable.

Learning is well and truly underway in our school.

  • Year 2 have been delving into Little Red Reading Hood, an imaginative twist on a classic tale. They took their storytelling even further with a walk to the school woodland area to explore the setting of the woods—bringing the story to life right outside their classroom!
  • Year 1 have been busy scientists, focusing on the sense of sight this week. Through fun and engaging activities, they’ve been discovering how we use our eyes to explore the world around us.
  • Early Years children have taken a brave leap into the tale of George and the Dragon. The children especially enjoyed writing about the scary dragon, using their imaginations and growing storytelling skills.

It’s been a wonderful week full of sunshine, learning, and creative exploration.

We’re looking forward to even more exciting adventures next week!

Gentle reminder: School re-opens Tuesday 6th May due to Monday being a Bank Holiday.

Road Safety Day

On Tuesday, we welcomed our local PCSO Steve to school. We had a whole school assembly all about safety and the children learnt about the importance of wearing helmets when riding bicycles and scooters and using a seatbelt and car seat when travelling in a car.

The children then learnt about road safety and how to cross a road safely. The children learnt how to “stop, look, listen and think” when crossing the road.

Each class used their road safety knowledge on our local roads and PCSO Steve taught the children the importance of stopping and checking even if there is a zebra crossing, as not all cars stop. All the children were reminded of the importance of staying with adults and to not run across roads.

All of our FHIS children showed their value of responsibility during our walk in the local community, and we are very proud of them.

Attendance

Attendance is a priority concern in our duty to ‘safeguard’ children. We believe that children can reach their full potential only by receiving full-time education through regular attendance.

Our target

At FHIS we want to achieve attendance for all pupils of 96% or greater. This is a minimum of an additional 62 hours of learning achieved compared to that of 90% attendance.

28th April - 2nd May

Chestnut – 97%

Sycamore – 100%

Ash – 95%

Maple – 99%

Oak – 98%

Willow – 95%

Whole school – 97%

Attendance Cup Winners

Last week's class attendance cup winners were.....

Sun Safety

Now that the weather is starting to improve and getting warmer, please can we gently remind parents/guardians to send children in with water bottles and sun hats.

Sunglasses are not allowed in school unless it's for medical reasons. Sun cream is to be applied before school and not sent in with the children as we are unable to apply this for them.

 Trip Payment Reminder

Just a gentle reminder regarding payment for our upcoming school trip.

Friday 20th June - Year 2 Hunstanton & Sealife Centre - The deadline for payment is Friday 16th May.

Payment is to be made via Arbor. In the event we do not receive sufficient payment by the specified date, the trip may need to be cancelled, and a refund will be given.

Please contact the school office if your child is unable to attend, or you need assistance accessing Arbor.

Parker School Bus Bay

We have been made aware by The Parker School that the school buses are now collecting their students from the Parker (top site) bus bay and not at Randolph.

Please can we ask that the bus bay site is kept clear to allow the buses to safely park and collect the students. Can we ask parents not to park in the bus bay and use the Community Centre Car Park.

This ensures everyone's safety at busy times of the school day.

Thank you for your continued support.
