Head Of School – Review Of The Week
It’s been another wonderful week of learning across the school!
EYFS have had lots of fun during their oracy afternoon, where they made their very own scarecrows. The children worked hard to follow one- and two-step instructions and practise their active listening skills, showing great teamwork and communication.
Year 1 have been enjoying the story of Zog, exploring the characters and making predictions about what might happen next. Their enthusiasm for reading and storytelling has really shone through!
Year 2 started their new book this week, The Leaf Thief, which inspired them to go on an autumnal walk. The children loved exploring the signs of the season and learning how Squirrel discovered the changes that come with autumn.
On Friday, we celebrated ‘No Outsiders Day’, focusing on how being different is a superpower! Children across the school took part in thoughtful discussions and creative artwork linked to their No Outsiders story, reflecting on kindness, inclusion, and what makes each of us unique.
This week, we also welcomed a Read Write Inc. consultant to school to help us enhance our teaching practice of early phonics. Our Early Years children have made an exceptional start, already learning over 16 sounds! We are so proud of their enthusiasm and progress.
A huge thank you to all our families for your ongoing support — we encourage you to continue practising your child’s sounds at home regularly. You can find these sounds in the front of your child’s reading log.
What a fantastic week filled with learning, creativity, and community spirit!
