Head Of School - Review Of The Week

What a fantastic and busy week we’ve had at FHIS – full of rich learning experiences and joyful exploration!

Our Year 2 children have been truly hands-on in their science learning, using our wonderful Woodland Area to build habitats for mini-beasts. It was brilliant to see their creativity and care as they thought about what different creatures need to survive – a great example of learning brought to life!

Year 1 have been making musical magic this week, learning to play three-note tunes with increasing confidence. Their focus, rhythm, and enthusiasm have been a joy to hear throughout the corridors!

Meanwhile, our EYFS pupils enjoyed a very exciting trip to Mini Meadows Farm. The children loved exploring the animals and learning all about how to care for them. It was a fantastic day of hands-on discovery, helping them to deepen their understanding of the world around them.

Thank you to our staff for planning such meaningful opportunities and to our families for your continued support.

It’s a real privilege to see our children learning, growing, and enjoying their time in school every day.

Wishing you all a restful weekend.

EYFS Trip to Mini Meadows

Our EYFS children thoroughly enjoyed their day out at “Mini Meadows” yesterday. They had the opportunity to see, feed and learn about large and small farm animals. They met “Tank” the tortoise, who loved playing on both the inside and outside play equipment and in the giant sandpit. They were a credit to the school, remembering their manners, following instructions and were considerate towards members of the public.

A great day was had by all!

Attendance

Attendance is a priority concern in our duty to ‘safeguard’ children. We believe that children can reach their full potential only by receiving full-time education through regular attendance.

Our target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School we want to achieve attendance for all pupils of 96% or greater. This is a minimum of an additional 62 hours of learning achieved compared to that of 90% attendance.

Monday 23rd June –Friday 27th June

Chestnut – 89%

Sycamore – 95%

Ash – 96%

Maple – 92%

Oak – 93%

Willow – 98%

Whole school – 94%

Reminders

Sun Safety

Please can we gently remind parents/guardians to send children in with water bottles and sun hats.

Sunglasses are not allowed in school unless it's for medical reasons. Sun cream is to be applied before school and not sent in with the children as we are unable to apply this to them.

Parking

A gentle reminder that parking on school premises at drop-off and pick-up is for blue badge holders only unless there has been a prior agreement.

Playground Safety

We kindly ask all parents and children to refrain from riding scooters or bikes on the school playground before and after school.

Our playground is a busy space, especially during drop-off and pick-up times, and riding at speed can pose a risk to younger children and adults that are moving through the area.

To help keep everyone safe, please walk your bikes and scooters while on the school grounds.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
