Review Of The Week

School has been a fun and eventful week, with a special focus on creativity, learning, and celebrating books!

As a school, we celebrated World Book Day, a fantastic event that encouraged students to engage with books in exciting ways. Everyone came dressed as their favourite characters, with some very creative costumes spotted throughout the school, from Harry Potter to characters from classic fairy tales. The enthusiasm was contagious.

Teachers organised special book-themed activities in the classrooms, including reading circles, book discussions, and even a visit from Valerie McGurk, our local children's author.

EYFS

This week the children in EYFS have been very busy engaging in a variety of learning. We enjoyed World Book Day, listening to stories and dressing up as our favourite book characters. We have been eating pancakes and learning about the coming of Easter. As the weather has been lovely, we have been enjoying the garden and mud kitchen, exploring and using our senses to describe the outside world. We are hoping to continue to develop this area. If you have any seeds, plants, flowers or cuttings, solar lights, short fencing for flower beds, tools, bricks, slabs or anything else that you could donate and feel we could use, it really would be gratefully received.

Attendance

Attendance is a priority concern in our duty to ‘safeguard’ children. We believe that children can reach their full potential only by receiving full-time education through regular attendance.

Our target

At FHIS we want to achieve attendance for all pupils of 96% or greater. This is a minimum of an additional 62 hours of learning achieved compared to that of 90% attendance.

Sycamore – 98%

We are delighted to share that our PE providers, Pro Sports, have been featured in the Northampton Chronicle and Echo for their fantastic holiday clubs! Their dedication to providing engaging and high-quality sports activities for children has been rightly recognised, and we are incredibly proud to work closely with them here at FHIS. Pro Sports play a key role in delivering exciting and inclusive PE lessons for our pupils, and we are thrilled to see their hard work celebrated in the wider community.
