Review of the Week

What another fantastic week of learning at our Infant School!

EYFS have been getting into the autumn spirit by exploring pumpkins through a range of exciting, hands-on activities! Our key story this week has been The Pumpkin Thief, which has sparked lots of curiosity and discussion. The children have also been working incredibly hard in phonics, developing their blending skills to help them become confident, independent readers.

Year 1 have been busy developing their writing skills, focusing on using adjectives to make their sentences more interesting and exciting for the reader. In Art, children have been learning the skill of etching, carefully creating designs in potatoes before using them to produce some fantastic prints!

Year 2 have continued to impress us with their writing, focusing on using a range of conjunctions to join two clauses together and create more detailed sentences. In Science, children have continued their learning about healthy eating, exploring the importance of a balanced diet and making healthy food choices.

Across the school, all the children have been working hard on their phonics in preparation for our Read Write Inc. (RWI) assessments next week. We are incredibly proud of their continued effort, enthusiasm and progress.

Well done to all our children for another wonderful week of learning! We hope you all have a lovely weekend!

Attendance Matters

Attendance is a priority concern as part of our commitment to safeguarding every child. We believe that children can only reach their full potential through regular, full-time education.

🎯Our Attendance Target

At Falconer's Hill Infant School, we aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance.

βœ…  Why 96%?
Pupils with 96% or higher attendance gain a significant advantage β€” that’s at least 62 more hours of learning compared to a child with just 90% attendance.

Let’s work together to support our children’s education and make every school day count!

This Week's Attendance
12th October - 16th October

Here’s how each class did this week with their attendance:

🌰 Chestnut – 94%
🍁 Sycamore – 95%
🌿 Ash – 96%
πŸ‚ Maple – 97%
🌳 Oak – 99%
🌼 Willow – 94%

🏫 Whole School Attendance β€“96%

πŸ₯‡ Congratulations to Oak for achieving the most attendance this week! You’ve earned the Attendance Cup! Well done!

Let's keep up the great attendance at our school β€” every day counts!

Attendance Communication

We kindly ask all parents and carers to contact the school as early as possible if your child is going to be absent.
You can notify us via:

  • Telephone: 01327 702878 – Office hours are 8am-4pm but leaving a voicemail is an option
  • Email: admin@fhis.inmat.org.uk
  • Seesaw message: Ideally to Mrs Griffiths or Mrs Orme.

If your child has a medical appointment, please inform the school office in advance.
Where possible, please provide appointment letters, cards, or confirmation messages so we can update our records accurately.

Early communication helps us keep our attendance records accurate and supports the wellbeing of all our students.

Thank you for your support and cooperation.
