RE

Intent:

At FHIS we use the agreed syllabus for RE in Northamptonshire. It plays an important part in preparing pupils for life in modern Britain and understanding of different faiths and cultures that are all around us.

Through open, informed and respectful discussions with peers and local religious representatives our children learn about the challenges overcome through perseverance and how faith can play an important part in this. Our pupils learn about the similarities and differences, shared values and mutual understanding between different religions. We nourish children’s natural desire to learn about their world and develop the confidence to question everything around them.  We promote attitudes of respect towards others and provide an understanding of moral code.

Implementation:

For the teaching of Religious Education, we follow the Northamptonshire Scheme of Work.  Alongside this, we also have planned opportunities to celebrate religious festivals through Smart Days, celebration assemblies and trips into the community to gain first-hand experiences.
